Nothing short of such reasons would have induced us to solicit the consideration of Government to our cause, it being far from our intention either to ask for anything more than what we have considered to be our actual rights, or in the most remote manner to stand in the way of Public improvement, we are inclined, however, to believe that in the Survey of the proposed line of Road it may be found, that the object of Government can be attained by altering the other side, and we should readily contribute to bear any part of the expense of such alteration at which our property might be assessed, in order to preserve unaltered the present limits of our lot.
